Pen manufacturer Pentel has raised half a million pounds for the Breast Cancer Campaign over the past five years.
After supporting the charity since summer 2006, the company beat its initial goal of £25,000 for the first year in a matter of months and announced the achievement to its staff on the "wear it pink day" last week.
The company raised the sum by donating an amount from several of their products, the latest of which is the capless limited edition retractable liquid gel pen with which Pentel will donate £0.25 to Breast Cancer Campaign for every item sold.
Liz Monks, director of supporter relations and fundraising at Breast Cancer Campaign, commented on the announcement: "Breast Cancer Campaign is extremely proud of our partnership with Pentel. Their pink products have proved extremely popular and along with staff fundraising, Pentel have raised over £500,000. This has helped us to fund the research projects with the greatest potential to save and improve lives - and ultimately find a cure for breast cancer," she said.
Wendy Vickery, Pentel marketing manager for Pendel, said, "We couldn't have achieved this success without the enthusiasm and support of our customers, who've recognised the valuable work done by Breast Cancer Campaign and seized the opportunity to sell products that help fund important projects throughout the UK."
