Canon UK has won six ‘Outstanding Achievement' awards from Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI). The firm has been recognised across its full range of scanners and printers including the imageFORMULA, iR, imageRUNNER ADVANCE and i-SENSYS models at BLI's Summer 2010 ‘Pick' Awards.
Four Canon devices earned five-star ratings in BLI's Environmental Test Reports and were presented with ‘Outstanding Achievement' awards for energy efficiency at this year's ceremony.
• Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5035i in the A3 Colour MFP category
• Canon i-SENSYS MF8350Cdn in the Personal/Small Workgroup Colour Multifunction Printer category
• Canon i-SENSYS MF6680dn in the Personal/Small Workgroup Monochrome Multifunction Printer category
• Canon iR3245N in the A3 Monochrome MFP category
BLI found the projected annual energy consumption and costs for the i-SENSYS MF8350Cdn were the lowest compared with models in its range. In addition, annual energy consumption for all four models was found to be significantly lower than the average based on BLI's real-world testing.
"For many consumers today, energy efficiency is just as important as productivity and reliability," said David Sweetnam, BLI's European research and lab manager. "The key factor in the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5035i's environmental performance was its very low sleep-mode energy usage, resulting in significant projected annual energy savings. This is further boosted by the model's ability to come out of deep sleep mode to conduct a print job then drop immediately back into deep sleep mode after the job has been completed."
Canon also received two ‘Outstanding Achievement' awards within the scanner category for:
• Canon imageFORMULA P-150 portable scanner
• Canon's CaptureOnTouch document scanning software
The recently launched Canon imageFORMULA P-150 portable scanner won the ‘Outstanding Mobile Scanner' award. BLI noted its ease of use and ability to connect to any laptop or PC without installing additional software. It was also the fastest ever mobile scanner to be tested by BLI, making slow, single-sheet mobile scanning a thing of the past.
BLI test technician Joe Ellerman said: "The Canon imageFORMULA P-150 is very easy to use and offers a smaller than average footprint than those of other ADF-equipped mobile scanners tested."
Canon's CaptureOnTouch scanning software, bundled with the imageFORMULA P-150, imageFORMULA DR-2020U, imageFORMULA DR-2010C and imageFORMULA DR-2510C was also recognised by BLI for its simple design and intuitive layout. With the option to create a variety of frequently used scan profiles and the ability to quickly and easily switch profile settings while keeping the destination and file formats, the software helps users to begin scanning quickly and efficiently.
Lisa Reider, BLI's senior product editor for scanners and environmental, said: "The clean layout of CaptureOnTouch allows users to choose the buttons or the settings right from one tab without having to navigate through various programs or settings windows."
Trevor Dodsworth, head of product marketing, business to business, Canon UK said: "Canon is committed to helping its business customers work more productively and with improved energy efficiency. To be recognised by BLI for six Summer ‘Pick' awards is a fantastic achievement that illustrates the strength of Canon's business imaging portfolio as we continue to lead the way in the market."
