Brother has put its backing behind an event to support the work of the north of England's leading art schools.

The walls of Mr Thomas's Chop House, the landmark bar and restaurant in the centre of Manchester, have been transformed into a gallery for seven days, featuring selected works from eight universities and colleges.

The aim of the exhibition is to give early exposure to the future stars of the region's art scene, as well as to raise funds for the North West Air Ambulance through an auction of original works and the sale of limited edition prints.

A team of judges, drawn from the leading lights of the region's creative community and artists, has selected 25 finalists from over 160 submitted works. The winning entry will be announced on 1 July during a charity auction.

Brother's support helps to ensure all proceeds are divided equally between the artists and the charity. Every original piece submitted for the exhibition is available for sale along with signed and limited edition prints for selected works.

Phil Jones, sales and marketing director at Brother UK, said: "This is a great way for us to offer support to our customers in the education sector and creative communities.

"It also gives this year's graduates a chance to showcase their work to some of the leading creative agencies whilst also allowing these agencies to get first sight of the most exciting new talent."

The winning artist and college will each receive Brother's latest A3 inkjet machine (MFC 6490-CW) to help them create quality prints of their work.
