Canon UK has signed a contract to supply Channel 5 Broadcasting with print and imaging equipment for its newly-refurbished central London office.
The five-storey building, which houses the majority of the organisations 290-strong workforce, is now fitted with Canon multifunctional printers (MFPs) to help manage print and document management more effectively.
Environment and energy savings were a key consideration for Channel 5 Broadcasting when making decisions about the office refurbishment. Consolidating the printer fleet to just two per floor, instead of multiple desktop devices, and providing access cards for staff to release printing at the device were therefore suggested as ways to control printing and cut waste within the organisation.
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices installed also offer energy efficiency with an overall reduction in carbon emissions of up to 50%.
In addition, uniFLOW Output Manager software was installed to give Channel 5's IT department visibility over who is printing what so that ongoing reviews and processes improvements can be implemented as required.
Hanan George, assistant facilities manager at Channel 5 Broadcasting, said: "Despite the fact that our media is mostly broadcast, we still rely heavily on print across the organisation. Initially we worked with Canon to do a print audit, which allowed us to see where and how savings could be made and processes improved. Canon's solution is the perfect fit for our business as it allows us to reduce the number of devices, which saves space and reduces the overall volume of print output. The cost and environmental benefits that this brings to us are really important."
The installation at Channel 5 Broadcasting is complete and the organisation expects to save approximately £125,000 in servicing across the 60-month contract.
