Pendragon Presentation Packaging of Great Malvern, manufacturers of bespoke envelopes, has made the world's largest envelope as confirmed by The Guinness Book of Records on 6 May.
The envelope, which measures 32.9 x 22.9 feet, was commissioned by philatelic experts Stanley Gibbons to include an address label, franking label and stamp with their own graphics.
Currently the giant envelope is on display at the Business Design Centre in Islington until 15 May for the London 2010 Festival of Stamps.
It weighs 25kg and was made in the school hall at Great Malvern Primary School in three days following preparation at Pendragon's factory, and then transported to London rolled up in a 40 foot articulated vehicle.
The task was overseen by production manager James Wood. Mandy Williams, Brenda Francis, Chris Greco and Sue Clarke, all ex-employees of John Dickinson, were the production operatives.
Pendragon MD Phil Humphreys commented: "What makes it even more fulfilling, is that it was confirmed that this is the first Guinness World Record to be recorded in Great Malvern."
George Silverman of Pendragon Presentation Packaging who coordinated the project said: "It's not every day you get to produce an item like this. We were excited by the possibility and have enjoyed the challenge, especially the outcome."
