Celebrations take place on Data Protection Day

Laptop security solutions firm Kensington Computer Products Group joined in celebration of the fourth Data Protection Day yesterday. The aim of the day was to give European citizens the chance to understand what personal information about individuals is collected and how they should be properly secured.

Research for the day showed that 92% of European SMEs with mobile workers have experienced laptop theft. The average incident occurs once every 251 days and 54% of SMEs have experienced a laptop theft in the past six months.

"Faced with the fact that a laptop which is not locked up is far more likely to be stolen, it's important to be aware that prevention is better than cure," said security business development director Stephen Hoare.
